Chappell Roan has shared her latest single, “The Subway”, a highly requested track now released through Amusement, Island Records, and Universal Music Canada.

Produced and co-written with Daniel Nigro, the track explores the emotional echoes of missed connections. Her dramatic flair and expressive soprano define the track, punctuated by: “I made a promise, if in four months this feeling ain’t gone, well f*ck this city, I’m moving to Saskatchewan!”

Roan unveiled hints of the single through citywide posters and murals in New York. A now-viral moving truck spotted in Saskatchewan helped amplify the buzz.

Alongside the digital release, she introduced a limited edition copper 7” featuring “The Subway” and a new demo “I Hate It Here”, which fans quickly snapped up.

The video, directed by Amber Grace Johnson, highlights Roan’s theatrical artistry, following her across Manhattan in surreal vignettes that embrace heartbreak and identity.

Roan shared, “The cliche of ‘the girl that got away’ barely scratches the surface for me with this song. I wrote it as I was stumbling around New York with a broken heart and I kept envisioning us on every street, fire escape, coffee shop, park and yes… the subway.”

This fall, Roan brings the emotion live with all-ages shows across New York, Kansas City, and Pasadena.
