Nell Mescal Returns with “Carried Away,” A Reflection on Fragile Connection

 Nell Mescal shares her first single post-Atlantic Records signing: “Carried Away.”

 Rising singer-songwriter Nell Mescal has released her latest single “Carried Away,” produced by Philip Weinrobe and recorded in Brooklyn. This is her first new music since signing with Atlantic Records, setting the stage for her next creative era.

The track explores emotional vulnerability and a search for clarity in love. “It’s a song about asking for reassurance from someone you’re in a tumultuous relationship with and being disappointed by their answer,” Mescal says. “Instead of saying they love you back, they say they just got carried away.”

Working with Weinrobe brought fresh depth to the song. “The demo of this vs the finished product is so different and it was so exciting to create in the studio. I played it with just me and a guitar for the band and after playing it once everyone joined in and it immediately became clear the direction we were headed in. Philip had some amazing ideas. We thought about doing a lyric change in the second pre chorus and he had the entire band play the same section over and over again while I wrote as quickly as possible…and it really elevated the song.”

Nell also dropped an official music video alongside the single, now streaming on YouTube. Her live momentum remains strong, with recent sets at TRNSMT Festival and Somerset House’s Summer Session. She’s set to appear at Reading & Leeds, Come Together Festival, and Rock N Roll Circus, with a larger UK tour coming in late 2025.
