Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne, and Smino come together in “Tree,” a track that blends sharp lyricism and impactful visuals to spotlight Black womanhood, freedom, and legacy.

Set in a dispensary owned by Black women in L.A., the video, directed by Chance, morphs into a story of power and protection when police enter. In a poetic act of resistance, the women turn their space into a flower shop, creating sanctuary through transformation.

Chance explains this journey through lyrics that uplift while reflecting on hardship. Lil Wayne and Smino join in with verses that shift from dreamy to defiant, offering sonic contrast and lyrical fire.

“Tree” ties into Chance’s broader artistic project, Star Line, which promises multidimensional explorations of the Black experience inspired by Garvey’s legacy.
