SE SO NEON’s Soyoon Finds the Present in “NOW” and Emotion in “Remember!”

SE SO NEON announces new album “NOW” and drops emotional lead single “Remember!” with video.
Soyoon Hwang, the visionary behind South Korea’s genre-defying band SE SO NEON, delivers a heartfelt new single titled “Remember!”—a poignant preview of their forthcoming album <NOW>, arriving August 15. Known for blending retro sounds with modern introspection, Soyoon pushes deeper into emotional storytelling with this latest chapter.
The single “Remember!” is accompanied by a self-directed video and English-language version, amplifying the track’s international reach. Produced with Jon Nellen and mixed by Nathan Boddy, the song moves between serene calm and expressive intensity, evoking a sense of personal reckoning.
“Sadly, there are times when I come to understand myself through the death of others… The way of remembering him is to hold onto this,” shares Soyoon.
That loss—specifically the passing of Ryuichi Sakamoto—shaped both the track and the artist’s current outlook. Following her solo release in 2023, Soyoon found herself in creative limbo. A temporary move to New York reignited her vision, resulting in the deeply present energy behind <NOW>.
The album draws heavily on themes of nature and personal grounding. “I love nature—sky, sunshine,” Soyoon shares. “<NOW> is about nature, because I’m from nature.” That sentiment carries through her guitar work and ambient soundscapes, making the new music feel both grounded and expansive.
With their new tour launching this fall, SE SO NEON is poised to reintroduce their evolving sound to North American audiences in venues like Brooklyn Steel and The Wiltern.
