With his new single “cliché,” mgk launches the next phase of his genre-defying career, blending vulnerability with feel-good chaos in a track built for repeat summer spins. Released via Interscope / Island EMI, the song marks his latest collaboration with SlimXX, BazeXX, and Nick Long.
“cliché” premiered across MTV Live, MTVU, and MTV Biggest Pop, with a billboard rollout in Times Square, reflecting the high-impact rollout fans have come to expect. A pre-save link launched earlier this week hinted at the upcoming album title, setting the stage for a bold return.
Directed by Sam Cahill, the video brings mgk’s vibrant, nostalgic vision to life. Inspired by the ‘90s and early 2000s, and choreographed by Sean Bankhead, it showcases a carefree side of mgk—one driven by melody, motion, and emotional liberation.
Building up to this release, mgk dropped intimate reimaginings of “Iris”, “Empty Out Your Pockets,” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, giving fans a peek into his shifting artistic lens.
He’s also preparing to headline the 30th Anniversary Vans Warped Tour, with upcoming dates in Washington, DC, and Orlando, FL.
With Tickets to My Downfall and mainstream sellout both earning Billboard 200 No. 1s, and a Grammy nomination under his belt, mgk’s “cliché” signals another confident stride into a new era.
