Rising pop-soul artist Kassidy delivers his latest single “Useless,” a track that taps into the painful reality of being the one who cares more. Out now via Universal Music Canada, the song takes a stripped-back, emotionally vulnerable approach to the theme of disconnection and disappointment.

“‘Useless’ was inspired by friends who don’t reach out anymore or won’t make the time or effort the way they used to. It’s about that feeling of always being the one to reach out,” Kassidy says.

As the lyrics developed, Kassidy recognized how the sentiment also applies to romantic relationships.

“Somewhere along the way in the writing process, I realized that this concept could also be fitting for a romantic relationship where one of the partners is feeling let down or used.”

The music video, premiering May 30, casts Kassidy as a partner wrestling with emotional absence. Adding to the release, a live performance video—featuring JaRon Marshall (Black Pumas)—will offer a minimalist reinterpretation of the track, focusing on vocals and piano in an intimate setting.

Kassidy has already started turning heads with his voice and heartfelt songwriting. With new music and performances planned, 2025 looks to be a formative year in his emerging journey as an artist blending soul, pop, and raw storytelling.
