Lights Reveals Dual Singles “WHITE PAPER PALM TREES” & “SURFACE TENSION” From A6

Lights drops two contrasting singles from her upcoming album A6, showcasing range and vision.

Lights delivers a bold creative statement with the release of two new singles—“WHITE PAPER PALM TREES” and “SURFACE TENSION”—out now via all platforms. Both songs preview her forthcoming studio album A6, arriving May 2, and reveal the evolving sonic landscapes that define this new era of her work.

Written and produced entirely by Lights, the two tracks reflect different facets of her artistry. “WHITE PAPER PALM TREES” channels nostalgic tones reminiscent of her early days, while “SURFACE TENSION” pushes into darker terrain, weaving in elements of dark wave and new wave along with German-language lyrics that nod to A6’s European influences.

“I couldn’t decide which song to release because I feel like both appeal to such different sides of the fan base,” Lights explains. “So I had the idea to release both simultaneously and let the fans decide where they stand.”

Adding a visual layer, Lights directed and edited the music videos for both songs. When played side by side, the videos are designed to interact visually, forming a striking dual-screen experience that mirrors the duality of the songs themselves. “You just have to decide which volume to turn up,” she adds.

These releases follow “ALIVE AGAIN” and “DAMAGE,” previously shared from the A6 rollout. Fans can now pre-order A6 in a variety of formats, including orange crush vinyl, signed LPs, and CDs.

Ahead of her North American tour, Lights will host Lights at Slipper Clutch (A)Live Again – an A6 Night, an exclusive fan event in Los Angeles on April 15. Entry is available via her TikTok.
