Empara Mi Channels Power and Pain in Visceral New Single “Masochist”

“Masochist” sees Empara Mi fuse cinematic pop with fierce choreography in Chapter 2 of Monsters & Masochists.
Empara Mi continues to break boundaries with her gripping new single “Masochist,” the second chapter of her conceptual album Monsters & Masochists. Following the atmospheric debut “I Can’t,” this latest track dives headfirst into obsession and rage—told through her signature blend of theatrical balladry and electronic soundscapes.
“Masochist” pulses with cinematic synths, haunting piano chords, and an aching vocal performance that draws the listener into the core of emotional self-destruction. “This song in particular I sort of went full ‘cinema’ on,” Empara Mi explains. “I actually put a Bond trailer on mute and wrote the song to it. My dream would be to actually do the song for Bond, but for now this can be my audition.”
Matching the song’s scale is its visual counterpart. In the music video, Empara Mi blends martial arts with emotional vulnerability, portraying a sword-wielding figure torn between destruction and survival. It’s a continuation of the immersive storytelling that made “I Can’t” such a standout, amassing over 800k views in just two weeks.
Each chapter of Monsters & Masochists is crafted to reflect a different phase of grief and personal metamorphosis. Where “I Can’t” whispered surrender, “Masochist” screams defiance—marking a bold, sonic shift.
Known for merging sound, movement, and concept, Empara Mi proves once again that she’s not just creating music—she’s building a cinematic universe. With “Masochist,” her metamorphosis is just beginning.
