Nigerian singer-songwriter Ruger returns with his second full-length album BlownBoy Ru, available now via Promised Land Records. With a MOBO nomination and a spot on Spotify’s 2025 Global Artists to Watch list, Ruger is emerging as one of Africa’s most in-demand voices—and BlownBoy Ru firmly reinforces that status.

“This album is a statement,” Ruger shares. “With Ru The World, I was proving a point. But on this album, I feel more comfortable in my artistry. My songwriting has evolved; with more intentional lyrics, delivery, and emotions I’m passing across.”

The album blends Afrobeats with R&B, dancehall, Fuji, amapiano, and pop, reflecting Ruger’s sonic ambition and global outlook. “I never want to be boxed into one sound… on this album, I just let myself be free.”

Standouts include the viral hit “Toma Toma” featuring Tiwa Savage (30M+ streams), fan-favorite “Jay Jay”—a tribute to football legend Jay-Jay Okocha—and the focus single “DuDu” featuring dancehall star Kranium. Other notable collaborations include “Give Away” with Zlatan and “Runaway” with Ugandan artist Haile.

Ruger recently appeared on COLORS with a live rendition of “Toro,” further building momentum ahead of the release. His MOBO nomination for Best African Music Act and BBC 1Xtra Live Lounge debut add to the growing accolades.

To support the project, Ruger embarks on a US and European tour this spring before returning to the UK for headline dates in Manchester, Birmingham, and London’s Indigo at The O2.

BlownBoy Ru isn’t just an album—it’s Ruger’s moment fully realized.
