With PAID IN MEMORIES just weeks away, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez shares “Psilocybin & Daisies,” the latest in a series of releases leading up to her highly anticipated third album. The track, which features a nostalgic interpolation of Smashing Pumpkins’ 1979, was co-written by Reyez and produced by SCUM and Warren “Oak” Felder. Accompanying the song is a striking live performance video directed by Jon Primo.
Billy Corgan, frontman of Smashing Pumpkins, expressed his admiration for Reyez’s interpretation, saying, “She’s so incredibly talented, and has that effortless, honest quality in her voice that I admire in the best singers.” Reyez, known for her unfiltered approach to songwriting, responded in her signature style: “Thanks to Billy for blessing me. Thanks to The Smashing Pumpkins. Thanks to mushrooms. And thanks to me.”
Set for release on March 28 via FMLY / Island Records, PAID IN MEMORIES features collaborations with Ari Lennox, Lil Wayne, Big Sean, and Miguel. Previous singles, including “JEANS” with Miguel and “JUST LIKE THAT” with Ari Lennox, have already garnered critical acclaim.
With recent Juno nominations, a Billboard Canada Women in Music Trailblazer Award, and global performances at Lollapalooza and Corona Capital, Reyez continues to redefine artistry on her own terms. PAID IN MEMORIES is shaping up to be another powerful chapter in her evolving career.
