Skilla Baby, one of Detroit’s rising rap stars, continues to expand his Crack Music series with the release of CM3, now available via Geffen Records. The mixtape delivers 16 tracks that showcase Skilla’s unique style—raw, unfiltered, and packed with punchlines—accompanied by standout collaborations and dynamic production.
The project features several high-profile artists, including Tee Grizzley, Hunxho, Toosii, and 4batz, each contributing their distinctive energy. Tracks like “Can’t Afford It,” featuring Hunxho, reflect Skilla’s triumphant tone, while “So Bad,” featuring 4batz, celebrates loyalty with a lively mansion party theme in its music video.
A major highlight is “Controversy 2,” the sequel to Skilla and Tee Grizzley’s 2023 collaboration. The duo’s seamless bar-for-bar chemistry cements their reputation as one of Detroit’s strongest rap pairings. Elsewhere, “Thug Life,” with Peezy, stacks up 2Pac-inspired references, blending nostalgia with contemporary storytelling.
Production plays a vital role in CM3, with contributions from MIA JayC, Bizness Boi, and Dizzy Banko, among others. Together, they create a sonic landscape that amplifies Skilla’s commanding delivery. The opening track, “Donovan Mcnabb,” sets the tone with fiery verses and booming beats, as Skilla confidently declares, “AYE! A hundred thousand every week, I’m in my bag / Richer than I ever f—-g been, that’s probably why they mad.”
CM3 solidifies Skilla Baby’s position as a force within Detroit’s thriving hip-hop scene, showcasing his ability to balance gritty storytelling with genre-defying versatility.
