‘Holy Water’ brings Marshmello’s country palette to life with Jelly Roll’s soaring refrain

The feature this week centers on a collaboration rich with feeling. Marshmello unveils ‘Holy Water’ with Jelly Roll, available now through Mercury Records, Big Loud Records. Listen HERE. The production looks to classic country for its colors, and Marshmello himself played 12 string guitar, baritone guitar, and mandolin in the studio. Those parts weave through an up tempo beat and kinetic synths, making space for a voice made to lift a chorus.
Jelly Roll sounds at home in this setting. The refrain arrives with clear spirit, “One tear for the brokenhearted, pour out a little holy water.” It tugs heartstrings and hits with the strength that fans expect from both artists. The song feels like a bridge between lanes, a place where tradition and modern motion meet and share the spotlight.
Marshmello opens up about the intent. “It’s really heartfelt. This is one of the most emotional songs I’ve ever released. It’s about losing a loved one. Unfortunately, a lot of us can relate to that. When I showed the initial idea to Jelly Roll and told him the story, he loved it. He’s an open book, and it was really great to see how it resonated. It inspired me to go in even more on the production and get creative with the country elements. He definitely brought it home to where it is now.”
As context, this marks his second country leaning collaboration, following the history making moment he shared with Kane Brown on ‘Miles On It’. The single also joins a 2025 slate that includes ‘Worlds Apart’ [feat. Feat. AR/CO], ‘Save My Love’ [with Ellie Goulding & AVAION], and ‘Slow Motion’ [with Jonas Brothers]. ‘Holy Water’ looks and sounds like a chapter opener, optimistic and inviting.
