A cover worthy snapshot of Alemeda’s year begins with a single and a screen. ‘1-800 FK-YOU’ arrives on Top Dawg Entertainment, Warner Records, a cheeky, no filter anthem for anyone suddenly starring in someone else’s group chat. With razor sharp delivery and zero tolerance for fakes, Alemeda flips the script on drama and turns side eyes into a spotlight. The effect is equal parts petty and powerful, a playful clapback wrapped in hot girl confidence.
She distills the message in a single quote: ““1-800-F**K-YOU” is really just about how I couldn’t care less what people think because I truly believe your haters are always your biggest fans. It’s cocky, and it’s a little petty in the cutest way.”
Context traces back to a breakout moment and a debut project. The Ethiopian Sudanese singer songwriter and producer surfaced with the 2021 UK garage single ‘Gonna Bleach My Eyebrows’, now beyond 14 million streams. In 2024, Alemeda released the debut EP ‘FK IT’, a set where unfiltered emotion and compelling storytelling paired with an alt pop rock muse. Success and critical acclaim around that project earned opening slots on tours for Rachel Chinouriri and Halsey recently.
