Rising pop-rock artist Emily James delivers “Underdog,” a climactic and emotive single from her forthcoming EP Summer Nostalgia, due August 15. The track, which dropped alongside a new video, captures the swell of feelings tied to young, imperfect love.
“It’s that moment when you realize things aren’t working, but you’re still holding on,” Emily says. “This is the turning point of Summer Nostalgia.”
The gritty rock arrangement reflects the storm of emotion present in the lyrics, including the standout line: “When it’s hell, yeah it’s hell…. I’m holding on to what could be, but would it be better?”
“Underdog” continues the EP’s coming-of-age narrative, following recent releases “Under the Influence” and “Suburbia.” The project as a whole revisits the moments that feel small at the time, but leave lasting marks.
Emily kicks off a series of tour dates with Donovan Woods beginning June 19, with stops across the West Coast, including LA’s The Troubadour.
