Sam Garrett’s One Family Delivers Soul, Substance, and Sonic Activism

Sam Garrett steps into a new creative era with One Family, his forthcoming full-length album arriving this summer. An artist grounded in folk, reggae, and mantra, Garrett builds this record as both homage and offering—channeling the revolutionary soul of the 1960s.
“This album is my ode to the freedom movements of the 60s and the music expressed by the youth of that time,” he shares.
Drawing from musical giants like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, One Family reflects Garrett’s dedication to truth-telling through song. The album walks the line between celebration and confrontation—where tracks like “Be Free” inspire lightness and “Hey Amma,” featuring Mortimer, delivers this powerful line: “I am the coloniser’s son, the one who won’t obey, the dream that you once had has turned into decay.”
Garrett states: “Freedom is our nature and this album is a reflection of that.”
More than a listening experience, One Family is a movement in melody. With each track, Garrett pushes back against distraction and disconnection, offering a return to collective values through grounded musical storytelling.
