Memphis-born singer and genre-blender Healy reemerges with “RUNNING LAPS,” his first release in over two years. The single offers a stirring look into the artist’s inner psyche, combining indie-pop soundscapes with deep emotional inquiry.

“Am I departing from my old self and habits, or have I been just self-sabotaging and giving up when the going gets tough?” Healy muses. “The imagery that came to mind was that iconic photo of Muhammad Ali looking over Sonny Liston — my higher self being down on the ground.”

Known for his nuanced musical approach and over 200 million catalog streams, Healy’s new release builds on a career that has seen co-signs from SZA, collaborations with Cautious Clay, and the 2023 release of Look at God.

Growing up in Memphis, Healy’s formative influences spanned gospel choirs to classic soul and Southern rap. Though he studied physical therapy, he began releasing music independently, eventually signing with RCA and releasing his debut studio album Tungsten in 2021.

With “RUNNING LAPS,” Healy returns with a refined voice and renewed focus, offering a glimpse into the internal cycles that define growth—and what it takes to break free.

More music is expected from Healy in the coming months as he reclaims his place in the indie-pop and alt-R&B landscape.
