Rising glam-pop star CATTY unleashes “Joyride” today via AWAL, her first new release since 2024’s breakout EP Healing Out Of Spite. Premiered by Jodie Bryant on BBC Radio 1’s Future Pop, the track is theatrical, emotional, and unflinchingly honest.

Written in “pure panic,” Joyride traces a whirlwind affair that spiraled out of control. Baroque keys, brass flourishes, and stabbing strings set the scene for CATTY’s bold vocal performance, filled with pain, passion, and pop melodrama.

“Everything I write is unfortunately a little too true to life,” CATTY explains. “I was done with love, but I couldn’t stay away… So Joyride is basically me saying, I’m all in, please don’t hurt me.”

Lyrically, the track moves through crashing insecurity (“Watching my dignity circle the drain”) and reckless desire (“I don’t even care if I get out alive”). The accompanying music video, featuring Amy Spalding, is described as a “sapphic Thelma & Louise.”

Following her breakout success with Healing Out Of Spite—and support from NME, Popjustice, CLASH, and BBC Radio 1—CATTY continues her upward trajectory. From opening for Stevie Nicks at BST Hyde Park to multiple sold-out headline shows, her star power is undeniable.

Joyride is out now. Upcoming live shows include The Great Escape, CloseUp Festival, Birmingham Pride, and Latitude Festival this summer.
