SOFI TUKKER unveil “Bread (butter version),” a reimagined version of their song “Bread” featuring Brazilian icon Seu Jorge. The single introduces their new album butter, due out May 16—a genre-bending exploration of Brazilian and Latin music.
Recorded in Brazil, butter moves away from SOFI TUKKER’s typical dance-floor beats in favor of MPB, samba, bossa nova, and more. The project is entirely organic, spotlighting real instruments and deep collaborations with Brazilian musicians.
Seu Jorge’s presence elevates the lead single into a cross-cultural duet. “I had just seen him perform the bossa nova classics at Carnegie Hall… he has one of those once-in-a-generation voices,” says Sophie Hawley-Weld. “I still can’t believe we got to do a song with him.”
The track plays with language, featuring Sophie in Portuguese and Seu Jorge in English. The role reversal gives the song added intimacy and global flair—perfectly matching the album’s ethos.
After a landmark 2024 tour and fashion collabs with G-STAR RAW, SOFI TUKKER’s 2025 is packed: a Vegas residency, BottleRock, Breakaway Festival, and a special butter set at the Newport Jazz Festival.
butter signals a warmer, more organic side to SOFI TUKKER—one that honors tradition while sounding entirely their own.
