Alt-rock iconoclast Cassyette has dropped the deluxe version of her debut album This World Still F***ing Sucks, out now on 23 Recordings, featuring four new tracks and her brand-new single “Phantom Limb.”
With a sharp emotional focus, the 19-track release builds on her original UK Top 40 debut. Additions include her haunting cover of “Disease,” a stripped version of “When She Told Me,” and a club-inspired “S*x Metal” remix—tracks that bridge her raw debut with what’s to come.
Of the new single, she says: “Phantom limb syndrome is a chronic condition… Phantom limb is about what it’s like to leave someone toxic that never loved you back… I felt like I had to relearn my entire existence. This World Still F***ing Sucks is very much that chapter of my life. I am closing that chapter now. Life has changed and something new is bubbling.”
Known for her genre-fluid sound and unapologetic lyricism, Cassyette’s music explores grief, addiction, love, and identity. Critics praised her debut, with NME calling it “compelling pop-metal fusion” and Kerrang! hailing it as “an album to get you off your knees and roaring loud.”
To celebrate, Cassyette launched Degenerette, a queer goth club night spotlighting alternative music and inclusive spaces. The launch was held April 19 at Brighton’s Club Revenge.
