East London’s own kwn steps into the spotlight again with her confident new single “do what i say,” blending provocative lyricism with her unmistakable soft-sheen vocal tone. The self-produced track is an invitation, a challenge, and a statement of intent — all wrapped in late-night energy and bedroom R&B textures.
“Do what i say” sees kwn making direct requests like “say my name” and “paint your nails, the way I like them,” over a sensual, minimalistic beat. It’s a playfully dominant energy, balanced by the smoothness of her voice and the intimacy of the production.
“I made ‘do what i say’ in my bedroom. At first, it was half the speed,” she recalls. “Once I sped it up, it all just clicked. I wasn’t trying to be deep — just having fun with my pen, seeing how cheeky I could get.”
kwn has quickly evolved from underground favorite to a standout presence in UK R&B. Her remix of “worst behaviour” with Kehlani went viral earlier this year, notching over 7 million views and sparking conversation across social media. The two artists first connected on Kehlani’s “Clothes Off,” and kwn later joined her on the Crash World Tour’s European leg.
Named Billboard’s “Rookie of the Month” in March and continuing to grow her reach with songs like “eyes wide open” and her feature on Jordan Adetunji’s “Too Many Women,” kwn is confidently redefining modern R&B. “do what i say” is out now — and it’s impossible to ignore.
