Arielle Free Reimagines Her House Sound With “Shy,” a New Single with Might Delete Later

“Shy” sees Arielle Free and Might Delete Later blend live instruments and real stories on Defected.
With “Shy,” Glaswegian DJ and broadcaster Arielle Free marks a new chapter in her journey with Defected Records. Collaborating with the genre-pushing Might Delete Later, the March 21 release explores real stories through a house lens—offering something as emotive as it is danceable.
Previously celebrated for her Defected release “Feels So Good” in 2023, Arielle continues to evolve, using live instrumentation and heartfelt toplines to broaden her sonic landscape. The new track draws its lyrics from a voicemail submitted through Might Delete Later’s open phone line—a creative channel for anonymous emotional confessions.
“Shy” is built on one caller’s personal story about insecurity and navigating connection. This unique concept results in a record that’s relatable, soulful, and undeniably club-ready.
Arielle has brought her high-energy sets to top-tier stages including Defected Croatia, Malta, and Ushuaïa Ibiza, and now returns with a deeper, more reflective offering.
To honor the release, the pair will engage directly with fans in London—collecting new stories of self-acceptance and vulnerability from everyday people.
Out now via Defected, “Shy” is a reminder of house music’s power to connect, uplift, and heal.
