Darren Kiely continues to make waves as a songwriter with the release of two emotionally charged tracks, “Old & Grey” and “Mulcair Road,” out now via Free Flight Records. Both songs showcase Kiely’s signature introspective storytelling, diving into themes of nostalgia, loss, and the passage of time.

“Mulcair Road” delivers a bright, upbeat melody while exploring the bittersweet realization that childhood places are never quite the same when revisited. Co-written with Ross Ellis, Joe Fox, and Geoff Warburton, the song paints a vivid picture of longing for familiarity in a world that keeps moving forward. “It describes the expectation of familiarity and safety but the realization that time has passed and what you left isn’t there anymore,” says Kiely.

On the other hand, “Old & Grey” is a more solemn reflection on loss, framed by haunting background whistles and poetic lyricism. Written with Joe Fox and Geoff Warburton, the song examines how losing a loved one can leave a lasting void. “It expresses how we can lose our identity without those we love the most,” Kiely explains.

With his Never Been Here Before World Tour in full swing, Kiely is sharing these new songs with audiences around the world. With raw emotion and resonant storytelling, “Old & Grey” and “Mulcair Road” further solidify his status as a rising artist with a powerful voice.
