Laidback Luke is back, and he’s bringing the energy. His latest single, “It Clicked,” out now on Dim Mak, signals a bold return to the gritty, high-energy sound that defined his early years. Known for shaping dance music over the last two decades, Luke is stepping away from commercial trends to fully embrace his underground roots.
Drawing inspiration from Dutch house and Bloghouse pioneers like Crookers, Switch, and The Bloody Beetroots, “It Clicked” is packed with funky rhythms, pounding bass, and electrifying energy. “I realized I had spent the last decade trying to conform to the streaming market,” Luke reflects. “Now, I want to be unapologetically me again—loud, harsh, and funky.”
The release also marks his official signing to Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label, a full-circle moment in his career. “When I told Steve I was signing, he said, ‘That’s an honor. Welcome to the family.’ It felt like coming home,” Luke shares.
Beyond his own music, Laidback Luke has mentored some of the biggest names in dance music, from Avicii to Afrojack. Now, with “It Clicked,” he’s proving that his own evolution is far from over.
With more high-energy releases on the way, this is just the beginning of Laidback Luke’s next era. It Clicked is out now on Dim Mak, primed to shake up the club scene.
